Volvo commercials. The new car has a heartbeat monitor. Yeah. A what? I'm sorry, shouldn't you concentrate more on making the car harder to break into? Is there a rash of people hiding inside cars that I'm not aware of? I think you need to worry about someone hiding behind or near your car. This "feature" is the kind of thing that gives you a pretty pointless and unreal sense of security.

The other "innovation"? A sensor to tell you when you're getting too close to something. Here's an idea: how about the driver pays attention to where they're going? I mean, I have a perfectly good sensor, too: my eyes. If your car has to tell you you're too close, it's probably already too late. Or you're just an idiot.

Okay. I'm done for now. We all know there'll be more later.

Yeah, and what about that Lexus (I think) that parallel parks itself? Unbelievable! And stuff like heated AND cooled cup holders...don't get me started.

They're called trains.

Okay, seriously, I'd be okay with that. I don't like to drive if I don't have to.

See, those little extras, I don't mind as much. They're perks. But the ones on the Volvo? Where on earth did the screaming need for those come from? The sensors especially-- the blind-spot sensor I could alllllmost give you, but the proximity? Gr. Part of being a good driver is PAYING ATTENTION.

Sigh.

I'm sorry, I didn't know that driving a volvo created the same exertion as climbing Alpe d'Huez. Some people have too much money and instead of spending it on that crap they should send it me!

Or they could just send me the Volvo. I mean, I'd sell it for a Honda, but still.

Yeah, but without all that superfluous crap being packaged as a "feature", how else are car manufacturers supposed to build in price hikes? I mean, c'mon, the automotive industry has to line its po--* I mean, "make a living" too, y'know.

Snerkle! yes, that's true. And luxury cars have to have SOMETHING to lord over the more plebian rides.

Speaking of rides, I need you to know I mentally quote that icon there of yours all the time. No, I don't know why. It's just...infected my braaaaain!
