I cannot make an appointment with the Philadelphia Passport Office unless I'm travelling within two weeks. Three and a half is not close enough.

Kill me. Just kill me now.

Thankfully, I can send via FedEx from here, and have it there by noon tomorrow. I'm including a copy of my receipt from the post office-- the one that said I'd have the passport in two weeks-- my birth certificate, a copy of my itinerary, and a slightly desperate letter. The woman with whom I spoke this morning says I can expect a three-to-five day turnaround.

Still.

I swear there was a taste in my mouth earlier. A taste of grey stone and cloudy sky and red busses and bustling people and much indefinable. I could taste London on my tongue.

I know so much is going to have changed I won't recognise most of the city. But then if anyplace is going to endure, it's London. And I'm sure I'll be just as excited to see everything that's new. If you see a girl standing in the middle of Boots joyously weeping over V05 Evening Primrose shampoo, that's me. I also have to go fabric shopping when I'm there, and make some connections if I can. I'm not above making jaunts to London working trips. I'm just fine with that, in fact.
