Didn't say you had to JOIN the SCA....just come by and see about playing with the fencers during practice. I know several local people that go to fencing or were going (until their child was born). It's a good bunch.
I'm SCAdian first then a ren-fan. This way I get my period fix but dont get wrapped up in the politics. Same for faire...I get my silly flirtiness fix without the drama of being solely in Faire circles.

While I just tossed my fencing gear -- I figured that any equipment that was over 20 years old wasn't safe -- I'm sure I could make do with some loaner equipment to start.
Besides, I haven't had anything to do with the SCA in almost 4 years -- and barely nothing then. Might be good to be "dragged" to something new. I now know the politics ain't as bad as fannish ones *and* there are politics anywhere you have more than 2 people....
I only wonder if I'd know *anyone* there any more.
