Remember some time last year I mentioned I was having a thing with phantom smells? It's gotten a little better, but the last few days, it's been some odd chemical smell, which is also affecting my sense of taste. It's pretty annoying.

Yeah. Time to see a doctor. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the metformin, which is finally-- FINALLY-- regulating my cycle. or maybe my vitamins? Gotta be something.

Have you been using Zicam? I was using it last year and had a similar problem. then, lo and behold, Zicam was taken off the market for precisely that reason. So if you're using an old bottle, that could be it.

No, I hadn't been using anything regularly other than the metformin. Gah!

Yso - it might be the metformin. It can affect your B-vitamin and iron levels, which can affect how your liver is functioning, which can show up as an odd metallic taste in your mouth. It might have also gotten your metabolism more fired up and put you in a state of ketosis, which makes all sorts of odd things happen to your body. You can pick up some strips at the drugstore to test your urine to see if you're in ketosis. How long have you been on the metformin? Definitely something to check with your doc on though.

Well, that very day, I tried one of the strips-- but it all came back fairly normal. So I'm back to square one.

Or I would be, if the whole thing hadn't just stopped. I haven't had the problem in about a week now, and I cannot understand what happened. I'm not complaining, but...I'm baffled again. It's like I threatened it, and it ran away!
