On June 17th, I can finally upgrade my iPhone firmware.

Shortly after that, I'll probably see if anyone wants to buy it.


Yeah. I know. But if you didn't know already I LONG AGO drank the Apple-flavoured Kool-Aid, you don't know me very well. It's primarily a matter of space and speed-- I LOVE having movies with me, especially if I need to do costume reference-- and for the love of G-d, battery life! I can kill my iPhone in half a day of normal-for-me usage. You tell me the new one lasts twelve hours? I'm gonna guess with the way I use it, that'll mean at least eight hours.

Only thing that could make this better? If it were Verizon. AT&T has been very nice, but service here in my apartment sucks worse than a bored Camden whore.


On the other side, Snow Leopard comes in September, and will be a whole $29 for Leopard users. That rocks the socks I'm not currently wearing.


You know what? I blame cyberthorn. For all of it. Really.

You do know the prices they quoted are with either a new line or contract upgrade? Price is like $500 to $700 without a new contract. I just got my iPhone 3G 8GB in January and I'm now stuck with it until June 2010 (18 months to upgrade contract).

That is the ballpark price of the original iPhone sans contract. Also Sarah Lane (tech geek blogger/podcaster) posted the prices on her twitter account. $699 down to $499 since she current iPhone 3G user. Don't know which size. AT&T greatly subsidizes all the phones they sell with a contract. But you already knew that. In all honestly take with grain of salt until you talk to AT&T.

Long Term Evolution. It is the next data standard including speeds up to 100 mbs (about 50 times faster than current realworld speeds. Real world on this could be up to 25 mbs.)
What he said for your hardware upgrade, though the firmware upgrade may be available and solve a lot of issues. We introduced new software for the Storm, and it is amazing.
