Watched Westminster last night.

And you know what? I think my dog's prettier than the collie they had.

And really, I'm not blowing smoke. Clue's also a Blue Merle, like the collie in the ring last night. She also has champion bloodlines. Her mother's a showstopper, her father's a showstopper, and the breeder and I discussed for a long time putting Clue in the ring. I just couldn't handle the trouble that would have entailed, and honestly, I don't know how I'd do without my dog. Also, I let taping her ears go, so they're not tipped any more. They don't do that characteristic collie "break."

But seriously. My dog? Perfect.


Not that I'm biased or anything.

Heh. I was reminded of my parents' previous tricolor collie. Cindy had ears that would stand up straight against any force. We made some tasteless jokes over the years about stapling them down...

Their current one, Anja, has perfect ears. If she's looking into a headwind, they'll stand up, then as she turns away they'll flop down again. The left one is a tiny bit lower and actually appears to be lame.

We were really surprised that she picked dogs over the weight of 30 pounds as, "Awesome," in the hound bit. Silly judges.

My wolfhound is a thousand times the dog they showed too. I dunno...I think that they are actually competing the best dogs anymore.

I grew up with a Sheltie who was beautiful and perfect, great bloodlines. He was GIVEN to us (asswipe owner thought his Sheltie puppy barked too much) on the condition that my parents allow him to be used for stud once, and then they would get the papers.

The previous owner never followed through, my parents never pursued it, and we had the best dog in the world for 16 years because some idiot didn't want to hear puppy barking.

When I buy a house, my first purchase will be a Sheltie.
