I called the non-emergency number, and they told me to call 911 and file a report. At this point, I want to wait and see if two of the customers I couldn't call email me back to say whether their corsets arrived or not, as that vastly changes the scope of all this. At worst, however, I have $1600 unaccounted for, which I'll have to remake.

You'll have to go back through. Cliff's Notes version: I gave my assistant seven corsets to mail while I was in England. Four of them are unaccounted for, and she's disappeared. I'm out about $1600's worth of custom pieces.

Probably a good idea until you know exactly what's going on. Let me see how much sewing I get done today, and what my work schedule is for the week. Perhaps I can get in a sewing night to help you out before Wicked. I'm a perfectionist, especially when I'm helping other people, so hopefully I can actually help you. :)
