Finally picked up the DVD of "Chicago" the other day. And it reminded me that I've always wanted to know what the "innocent" one of the Six Merry Murderesses in "Cell Block Tango" is saying. Once again, IMDB comes to my rescue.

# The speech by Hunyak, translated, is: "What am I doing here? They say my famous tenant held down my husband and I chopped his head off. But it's not true. I am innocent. I don't know why Uncle Sam says I did it. I tried to explain at the police station but they didn't understand." Here it is in Hungarian, just in case: "Mit keresek én itt? Azt mondják, a híres lakóm lefogta a férjem, én meg lecsaptam a fejét. De nem igaz. Én ártatlan vagyok. Nem tudom, miért mondja Uncle Sam, hogy én tettem. Próbáltam a rendõrségen megmagyarázni, de nem értették meg."

It seems, however, that the actress, Ekaterina Chtchelkanova, is Russian, so her speech is said with such a heavy Russian accent that even the Hungarians in the audience can't understand her. And when she pleads for Billy Flynn's help, she does so in Russian. I must admit that even being two quarters Hungarian as I am, I hadn't a clue. It just sounds sensuous and juicy to me.
