This is the part where I start smashing my head against the wall....

I can gargle with salt water, but most other cold remedies make me absolutely fucking nuts. I don't know what's in them, but they make me dizzy and sick. Well, there's TheraFlu, but that doesn't even work. My fucking eye sockets hurt. My teeth hurt.

Oh, G-d, this is a disaster. This is the second year in a row I've gotten sick at Philcon-time. Fuck. Fuck.

I am so sorry, sweetie! SLEEP!!!! That's really the best thing you can do! Can you take a Nyquil type thing and just knock yourself out?

Feel better!!!

Chicken soup.

Mr. PH has the same evil, and I stuffed him full of chicken soup (and, er, pizza pockets and sudafed) and he is sleeping it off.

A thought on the "most other cold remedies"... have you ever looked at the ingredients lists for the ones that mess with your head to see if there's something they all have in common? If you could isolate what's the issue, you might be able to find a cold med without it.
For example, my "to avoid" is eucalyptus. Which pretty much means that instead of cough drops, I end up getting those lemon hard-candies instead. (The old-fashioned ones with real lemon juice in them work just as well as cough drops, only without the nasty.)

Um, you are friends with a PHARMACIST. Ask me!

What do you want to know? There are several things you can take...but I honestly think you need an antihistamine.

Usually, my taking ANY cold meds makes my head spinny and buzzy for hours. LONG after I'm sneezing again, I feel really awful. What could do that?

Oh dear...

If you take Vitamin C, don't take Zinc at the same time. One cancels the other out; I can't remember which.

Sending you many "I'm HEALTHY, dammit!" vibes.
