Lemme 'splain.

I have cleared out as much extraneous stuff from my primary drive as I know to move. I'm left with

Apple Extras
Applications
Control Panel
Developer
Documents
iTunes
Library
Macromedia Extension Manager
Microsoft
System
System Folder
Users
Utilities

I don't know where the bulk is. I don 't know what I can safely move.

You should be able to move your documents to your secondary drive.
Same with iTunes and your Apple Extras.

I have most of my documents on the 2nd drive, and almost all of my iTunes library.

I just can't figure out what the hell's taking up 40 gigs!

You don't have the automatic backup function running on it, do you? The one that takes an image of your computer and stores it in case the thing crashes? Forgive me for not knowing it exactly, but I think it's called "Time Machine"?

Although that's a VERY recent release and you said you'd been having this issue for a while... but perhaps it might help if you've got it saving multiple snapshots of your system.
