I was trying to make the point that the smear campaign which says Obama voted against life-saving procedures for botched abortions is just plain wrong, and the implication that he supports euthanising such babies is just revolting.
It's a fear-based tactic spread by right-wing radio and websites, and it's just wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong.
He DOES support governmental restrictions on late-term abortions, and I'm not sure I agree with him on that, but I can see where he has to at least partly follow the will of the constituency. Personally, I feel government has absolutely no place in such horrendous decisions, and if a woman has to go through with it, she has to go through with it. She should be able to do so without her government sticking its claws into her uterus.
But he's consistently voted with his conscience: that abortions are a necessary evil, and every law pertaining thereto must make provisions for the life and health of the mother. The bills he's voted against were those versions that made no such exceptions.
I don't know what you were actually talking about, but suddenly I've got that South Park episode with the giant Barbara Streisand running through my head. Time for bed.
