Holy CRAP is this movie misogynistic. It's passionate when The Kid slaps Apollonia. It's funny when Morris has Jerome dump a pissed off woman in a dumpster.

Gah.

I guess I interpreted it differently.

When Morris has Jerome put a woman in the dumpster, it highlights what an ASS Jerome truely is.

When The Kid slaps Appolonia he realizes that he is doing the same thing to Appolonia that his father did to his mother and is shocked by his own behavior.

He may be shocked, but he does it several times, including a pretty uncomfortable scene under the bridge when she's drunk. When she's wearing almost nothing. When he hops on his bike and leaves her there. He does it the first time cos she's told him she's going to be in a band. And the band? They dress in lace teddies and not much else. Apollonia wears a collar with chains. Their whole act is them singing "I'm a sex shooter!" and shaking their asses.

It was a product of its time. I'm not saying it's not still a great movie, but some of that just makes me cringe hugely.
