Just watched Louise Brooks in Pandora's Box. I've spent so long hearing how miraculous a movie it is, I suppose it's inevitable I'd feel a bit let down. It's difficult for me to get into a film with absolutely no sympathetic characters.
I also have to admit that having seen so few movies of the period, I have to remind myself that the way in which she acted was completely different from the way anyone had acted before or was acting at the time. Perhaps I should watch some other late 20s cinema to put it into perspective. Suggestions, anyone?
I do have to admit, though: her dresses are stunning. All the dresses are. Such lovely frocks!
