I have to admit, reading this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Large_Hadron_Collider made me very sad. Not because I gnash my teeth at the expense, or shake my fist at evil scientists who care not that they may destroy the planet, or, well, anything like that. Not at all: I fully support the project. It's because this article is written in words a fifth-grader could understand, and I FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT.

Sigh. Good thing I'm not a physicist. I'd be a total waste.

Also? Check out Google's homepage today.

Well..techically it's not supposed to start colliding things until like October I think.

I'm not hugely worried. ;) I won't cash in my 401k yet.

Well honey, if it makes you feel better I understand most (not all) of what is written there. I get the basic idea because I taught about the particle accelator when I taught 9th grade physics... but honestly, yea it blows my mind too.
Now, Missy and Jim who I teach with probably get it completely and are salivating over it... but they also teach calculus based physics and can't understand why people dont pick up teh calculus in one day. Some people are just too damn smart ;)

there's a thing at the top that says "all or part of this article may be unclear", if that helps :)

You could just watch the rap on YouTube; supposedly the science is completely accurate, and it's so awful that it's kinda funny...
