Crazy busy.

So. Just came back from the first big mailing-- three out the door. Two packages to go tomorrow, and then everything that's supposed to go will be gone.

Jo, they told me you'll have to pay customs when your corset arrives! What the hell? I'm sorry, I had no idea. The FedEx lady told me I could, of course, just say the contents were only worth $50. I thought that might possibly be the worst idea ever.

"Oh, now did you have to say that? 'No turning back now.' That's like saying 'Nothing could possibly go wrong!' or 'This is gonna be the best Christmas Walford's ever had!'"

hey, hon, i've had a shitter of a week. so while i *did* get things cut, not much other than mel's stuff got sewn. also, i won't be able to make it out friday night - i'll have to come in saturday morning and just meet ya'll on site. I *HAVE* to get my PA driver's license done and since I can't miss school, the only time I can go is 8:30am on saturday morning. note my enthusiasms. DMV first thing in the morning? EPIC FAIL. I should be there by 11, tho.

Have you talked to the SBA or any other agency? Or organization? Do you have any sort of business credit card or merchant account? (Sometimes the comapnies have support offices that can offer advice.)

If you're going to be doing overseas business, there are groups that can help you snake through the chaos... your work is very niche.. so you want to make sure it gets categorized and dealt with just right.

It wasn't difficult with FedEx, I just didn't know about the customs tax. I'm sure I'll hear about it from my customer when it arrives-- thankfully, she's very cool. And Jo, if you're reading, I'M SORRY!

You can also mark it as a gift. Then there isn't any customs tax at all. Even if you insure it for full value.
