I've thought about it--but I decided that I spend enough time cleaning up animal hair at work and home, I don't want to spend my relaxation time with dog hair!
There's a woman in Wisconsin that does it commercially for $x/pound. Can't remember exactly what she charges, but it didn't seem like a bad price. You could tell eejits at faire "I have a Clue sweater at home, would you like to borrow it?"
People ask that about my Great Pyr. I stare incredulously and ask, "You...WANT to smell like wet dog? When I have A HUNDRED POUNDS of PRIME ALPACA just...languishing in the basement? Are you kidding? Please...tell me you're kidding..."
...anyone want any alpaca?
On the subject of spinning dog hair, though, sure it can be done (provided a decent staple length) and I've got a pair of good wheels if you're really set on being able to be able to offer eejits your Cluecoat ^_^
