I don't know what the hell's wrong with me. I went to bed yesterday for a nap at about 6, and wound up sleeping straight through, with a brief break at 3.30am to eat. Then straight back to bed. Got up this morning, worked out at 8.30am, Came home, fell asleep again. My appetite's screwed up, too. I hope to G-d I'm not getting sick.

I had the most marvelous weekend, though. [livejournal.com profile] dansr was waylaid by the weather-- and then by illness, so she stayed up in the frozen north. But [livejournal.com profile] well_artesia and the LJ-less bink came up from various points in MD, and we had a lovely and mostly relaxing weekend. [livejournal.com profile] well_artesiais amazing with papercrafts, and she redid my photo album for faire. It would have gone quicker, did my printer not take-- no joke-- about ten minutes to print out a 5x7 photo. I cannot figure out WHY it's so slow. And the photos aren't even that good in the end! Sigh.

We had a fabulous and fun dinner at Buca in Center City on Saturday. We tore through dinner like we'd never seen chicken parm before. The waiter was exhausted-- he'd just had a table, he explained, of fifteen- and sixteen-year old girls coming on to him. One passed him a note with her phone number that said, "It's only illegal if we get caught." That's just pathetically sad. Sunday, we drove 'round West Philly to revisit [livejournal.com profile] well_artesia's old haunts, going places I'd never even been! We then decided to hit South Street for lunch. We couldn't find parking until we got all the way down to Front Street, so I suggested Downey's. You know. The Irish bar. On the day of the big St. Patrick's Day parade in Philly. THAT was an experience. Hey, at least I wore green! I'm not sure why almost every male we saw was in a black suit with a midnight blue vest and black hat. Did I miss some arcane part of the parade?

We wandered South Street for a while, snapping photos as we went. Well, [livejournal.com profile] well_artesia and bink did-- I didn't join in 'til later. I got the pattern paper I needed at Pearl's, and met up with Anita Kane, an oooooold PARF friend who's back in the area now. I was going up the stairs at the Eyes Gallery, and she was coming down, and we wound up standing in the middle and catching up for quite some time.

Eventually, I had to break away to go find [livejournal.com profile] well_artesia and bink, who had actually gone exploring on South Street. We made our way back down towards the car, and all of a sudden, out of nowhere, I hear drums. And a piper. We took off at a trot, and found, in the dry fountain at Headhouse Square, a pipe band warming up. People were spilling out of the parade afterparty at Kildare's, and the band was having a splendid time. They played for a few minutes-- it seemed to be two bands hanging out together-- and after a bit, formed up, and marched away up Lombard Street. I cried, like I always do for pipes. Ah, t'was lovely, it was!

So now I'm listening to Duran Duran for a while. March 10th is Duran Day for me. 1984: I saw my first big concert: Duran Duran at the Spectrum. Oh, I was SO in love. Well, okay, like I'm not, still. I'm just trying not to think about the fact that it was over 20 years ago. I floated for DAYS after that show. And the next year or two years after, I remember I took iris to school on March 10th and gave them out to my friends just because. I never told them the unimaginable significance of Duran Day.

Funny, I was just thinking last night that the Take-Home Chef looks like a young Simon. Rowr. Still, I'd prefer John.

holy cow! I saw that same tour, a week later, at Hampton Coliseum in Virginia, and it was my first big concert too and i was talking in a pretentious affected British accent for several weeks after, much to my parents' dismay..

Yay for spontaneous outings...

Can't speak for Nikki or Rick, but for me the relevance of OTR in the equation faded somewhere along the line and we're really just plain friends now. :)

I've been meaning to go up to the Jomar's on I street to check out the fabric section, plus I've never been to Fabric Row....love to do a day trip sometime, once I have the money to actually BUY stuff. :)
