I did happen to see a few photos from the red carpet the other night. And I was stunned by one gown in particular. Sadly, I had to actually look up who was wearing it-- it's Hilary Swank. The dress is utterly gorgeous. Atelier Versace, I've also discovered.

I'm very, very pleased to see such elegance, on the whole. A few frocks gave me that quizzical-dog/what-were-you-thinking? look, but on the whole, just lovely.

That is a pretty dress, and it suits her. I was also impressed with Helen Mirren and Katherine Heigl, who both wore red.

In the 'huh?' category is the burlap bag look encasing Tilda Swinton.

Of course, my idea of 'fashion' is clean jeans and a t-shirt that hasn't got food down the front....

Apparently, the jury is still very much out on Tilda's gown. People either loved it or hated it. Me? Meh. Not my style, but it was interesting.
