Unfortunately, the republican was origionally written to win the election. The reason they changed it was that Leo McGarrity died (John Spencer), and they felt it would be too much for Santos to lose as well.

Well, John Wells wasn't sure WHO was gonna win right up til the end-- but then yeah, once John Spencer died of his horribly, eerily coincidental heart attack, they had to give it to Santos.

Christ, do I ever miss him. I cried so very hard when I heard he'd died. What a wonderful actor he was.

The week before, I saw Alan Alda doing an interview. He said that the outcome of the race had been decided but he wasn't allowed to give away who.

He was also wearing a blue windbreaker that very discreetly had the PoTUS emblem on the upper left hand side.

Wow, that's pretty amazing. I actually haven't watched WEst Wing in a few seasons, but wow...it really is uncanny, isn't it?
