Sigh.

And then there are the days I wish I'd never joined this Guild thing. Can't I just go play?

Off to make the doughnuts! And not on my machine, either. I dropped my Kenmore off in King of Prussia this afternoon-- they didn't tell me on the phone this afternoon that it was almost $100 just to look at it. That'll give it a basic tune-up, but anything beyond the basics will cost me extra. And we know it needs more than just the basics.I'm working now on Ryan's Brother. It's electronic, and it just feels so...flimsy. It's quiet, yes, but I feel like a stiff breeze will blow it over. But it's good enough for now.

Oh, and as if I weren't sure enough before, I've confirmed for myself that oh, yes, I'm an introvert. Frustratingly so, sometimes. Good thing I love my dog.

I have to admit, I LOVE my Brother brand sewing machine.

I have an ancient Brother that was Mom's. But it's from the 70s, when all machines had metal heads. The new ones? Sigh. Not so much.

Yes, but you don't "LOVE" your dog.

Ahem. No. Very much no.

As much as you sew, your machine was probably overdue for a good cleaning and tuneup, so the money will be well spent.
Here's hoping they just need to readjust the timing or something and don't have to replace any expensive doodads.

I liked the Brother I had in the Netherlands, but I kind of miss my old 1979 Singer with cams. The thing is a tank, but makes gorgeous heirloom stitches.

Ooo, what are heirloom stitches?

And yah, you're prolly quite right about the overhaul, I'm sure!

The so-called heirloom stitches are the ones that approximate hand stitching techniques such as fly stitch, eyelets and other decorative ones. Because I do (or used to) a lot of lace work, I used to go through a lot of entredeux, which is difficult to find. My singer could make it. I have a pinstitch on both of my new machines, but it's HUGE and just doesn't work as well.
Rolled edge hems are considered heirloom, too.

And I thought I was the only one who felt that way... Call me, hon.

When are you off work?

Meh. Just call me when you're home. I have an early night in. I'll be here.
