So I had a bit of a frenetic week or three. NELA kicked my ass, and not in a happy way. Then I had the ramp-up for Wicked, which also kicked my ass-- first in a not-happy way, and then in a profitable way. My main sewing machine broke. I'm having some rather trying emotional issues. I have a phone call to make in a couple of hours wherein I sort of have to give a stern talking-to to one of my Wenches, who's also a friend. Yay for being Madame. I'm also having some family problems I can't even begin to figure out-- though hey, that's why G-d made therapists, right? But it's infected every other aspect of my life. I've just been stressed out of my mind. I'm not sure I believe in the whole Mercury-retrograde thing, but I'm going to hedge my bets and wait, grimly, for the 18th to send these cosmically bad vibes a-packin'.

So I'm incredibly happy to say that at least one thing this week has gone very well, indeed. With everything whizzing past at the speed of light, I had to block out my time pretty strictly on Wednesday, and it worked. At 8pm, I opened up my sketchbook and started a corset pattern. At 6pm the next day, I delivered it. AND I had time for a nap or two, and a tour of Whole Foods with my nutritionist. I now know it takes me roughly fourteen to sixteen hours to make a corset if I work on nothing else. (Which NEVER happens-- I always have several going at once, but this was a special occasion.) And this one turned out spectacularly: check out [livejournal.com profile] hennepin's and [livejournal.com profile] kylecassidy's photos. Kyle, ever the romantic, bought his lovely lady a corset; she chose the fabric. I am very, very pleased with how it turned out! Sometimes, I really do love my job.

Good grief, you do incredible work, Ysobelle. That's stunning. Is that one of the London embroidered silks?

Believe it or not, no! It's one I bought here in Philly, though I'm fairly certain it's an Indian-embroidered silk, like the London silks are. I pined after it for about two years before I finally bit the bullet and ordered it-- I had to get a minimum yardage, and you know how that always goes: painfully. Worth it, though. Thank you!

I love the way it is cut. All the flowers lined up correctly down the busk. Amazing. That has to be even harder than aligning plaids.

Thank you! It can be...um...let's say, challenging. That's a good word, n'est ce pas? I'm so pleased with how it came out!
