oops, i thought my comment went here and not there. didn't mean to sound like i was urging you to defect from your current bank, although i tried switching to wachovia when i moved down here and went hastily back to PNC even though the closest branch was 100 miles away--and they keep following me, having bought two banks down here. but i'd get pretty rowdy with the bank. A hold is a hold; those funds are still yours. When I've been in this sitch with PNC, a phone call to say "I did not authorize this charge" constitutes a dispute, and they will give me full access to the disputed funds until they determine whether it's legit or not. I'm sure Wachovia has something like this in place? If they don't, I'd ask them about how they tout their customer service satisfaction all over their advertising campaign and how you're a customer who isn't satisfied.

Well, at this point, thank G-d, it's moot: I haven't been charged anything. If I DO get a charge, then I'll call Wachovia and dispute it. Unfortunately, my grounds for doing so might be a bit shaky, as I DID make the reservation with the card to start with. On the whole, Wachovia's been good to me-- they were certainly on the ball when my account was hacked while I was in London. We'll just have to see how this all pans out.
