If you have any opinion on abstinence-only education-- and I think most of the people reading this would-- then watch this. It's James Spader as a lawyer on, I believe, "Boston Legal," about such programs in schools, and how criminally negligent they are. It's incredibly powerful, and, one can imagine, rather the sort of thing that gets writers uncomfortable pressure from nameless higher-ups.

Boston Legal is the one show that gets taped every week on DVR so my husband and I can watch it together. I love, love, LOVE this show. Moments like the above are a big reason why. My exact beliefs on sex education in schools, but infinitely more articulate than my attempts to express the same.

Wouldn't you love to see Alan Shore let loose on Intelligent Design?

wow. i just uploaded a video to youtube and i had to sign a statement saying that i created and/or owned the rights to the video that i was uploading and that uploading copyrighted video, such as television shows, would result in my account being deleted and possible prosecution.

i guess the intellectual property people at youtube aren't smart enough to ... oh, say, use their own search engine to type "boston legal".....

oh, no, they do. Periodically they sweep their server and find things like this, or like music videos created from clips of tv shows, and delete them and the accounts. And people go right along behind them and create new accounts and upload them again. This one should last through the new year, but I wouldn't wager it'll last too much longer.

that account's been there for a year, it's got six videos in it, all stolen from t.v. shows -- methinks youtube is "secretly" relying on stolen property to keep it's market share. "we will delete your account if you do this" sounds an awful lot like "oh, please don't throw me in the briar patch...."
