I'm lucky-- I work here, and I love the stuff. And the people are usually, for the most part, pretty nice and often quite interesting.

Matter of fact? I walked past one excruciatingly tall guy at the counter who'd been shopping with, probably, his granddaughter and thought, "Man, I bet he played basketball." Half a minute later, I see another customer reach over to shake his hand, and one of my coworkers is saying, "I got his autograph for my son!"

You'd think a born-and-raised Philadelphian would be able to recognise Dr. J at a glance, wouldn't you?

If you don't mind me asking, what's the salary like (just give me a ballpark, you don't have to tell me exactly what you make)? I see they have a job opening at their Baltimore store, and I'm thinking of sending over a resume.....

It totally depends on experience and which way the wind's blowing-- in my store, at least. But on the whole, it's not a bad place to work. The stuff is gorgeous, and I can help you with product info, if you like. We're talking Harborplace, right? It's a nice location. Really! And you'd prolly see Robert and Jan, the owners, pretty often. Which is kind of a mixed blessing, now I think of it....

Anyway, it's fun. If you like pretty things, you might love the place!

I just sent off my resume. I don't think I'll have a problem talking up the products...I've been working with stones for 15 years, and have loved archeology/anthropology since I was a kid. Plus I'll be making my own art glass soon. I think I'd fit right in!! :)
