Danny, 10, is in Cincinnati with 3rd degree burns over 95% of his body. The Shriners, bless them, will cover everything, which includes reconstruction and rehab-- it could be $10 mil by the time he's done. But he's alive, and he responded to noise today.

Peter is still alive, but the next five days are critical. If he survives that long, he'll probably live. He still has his eyebrows, nose, ears, and lips, so he may also have his sight. He sustained most of his injuries trying to go back into the burning house for his daughter Gabby.

Millie isn't in the ICU any longer, and is able to talk. Marion doesn't know how bad her injuries are. But Millie does know their four-year, Gabby, is dead. She's being kept sedated. She also had a miscarriage a few months ago, so she's emotionally fragile.

On a vaguely lighter note, Marion says their last name-- her maiden name-- is pronounced "b'SHAT." As in "cat." None of the reporters have yet gotten it right. But that is, of course, the very least of anyone's worries. She's just trying to keep her spirits up.

Please keep them in your thoughts.

Hey Nikki, I'm relatively close to Potomac and it's very close to where Kieran's dad is. We're not scheduled to head up that way for a couple of weeks, but is there anything I can do to help? This sounds so awful...

I've been asking Marion, and so far, nothing, I think. I have a feeling that might change, so I'll make sure to tell you. Thank you so much.

G-d, the article says the skin was melting off them...Jesus.

If nothing else, folks local to where they are being treated can try to give blood (I seem to remember that being suggested in similar situations)...I'll see what I can find out from Shriners what kinds of things they recommend or need to help in treatment.

Maybe Marion knows what Danny likes? I can visit and bring him something to keep his spirits up?

I hope you don't mind - I'm going to repost this on my journal to give the locals a heads up, to see what we can do to help.

I don't know you but all I wanted to say is that they have my thoughts and prayers.

Blood donations are always welcome at your local Red Cross. As far as Shrine, While they generally have enough money on hand and so many specialists donate thier skills (esp. if they are 'travelling men' as well) monetary donations are never looked down upon. It's one of the few charities that makes sure that the cash goes to the problem, not the administration. That's the advantage of being within another organization.
