I really did think we had all the permits before we started. Really. We were going by what Carrie, the merchant coordinator told us. The engineers didn't say anything. The electrical inspector didn't. Turns out, as I'm only the second booth-building on her watch, Carrie didn't even know.

Good gravy, I didn't even know there WAS a Rapho Township, much less that that's technically where the faire site is.

Sigh.

See, I can tell you about Rapho Township because this loud obnoxious beeping sound has woken me or interrupted my meals followed by "RAPHO TOWNSHIP, MT HOPE RD, SICK PERSON, CLASS ONE" and my father cursing because its a LONG ride out there from E-town.....

Sigh. Meh. Bill's coming out Thursday, so I may drive out with him and take care of it all then. Or wait til Saturday before the wedding. Actually, we could drop it off Sunday, couldn't we?

Hey - any time you're dealing with a bureacuracy for the first time, you're going to run into these snafus. Unfortunately, it sounds like you're a bit of a test subject for Carrie - now she'll know how this works, and will pass that on to future builders.

I deal with civil cases across the state of NC - and although each county runs by the same basic set of rules, each particular clerk's office has it's own "quirks". I end up sending a LOT of stuff back and forth because each clerk has certain things they're picky about. You learn, and you adapt.

The important bit is that you have it fixed. Right? :)

I'm thinking of writing up a timeline of everything we did to give to Carrie for the next person who builds a booth. In fact, I KNOW I'll write this all up. Including who we dealt with, and what they do. We got some really nice people at the lumber yards and hardware places.

Once I drop off the copy of the plans, and the check, we'll be back online. Not that work isn't progressing apace anyway. We're...retrofixing. Yay Nancy at Rapho Township for being cool!
