I don't have to go to Manheim today. Thank G-d.

Turns out we needed a building permit from Rapho Township.

Me: "You'd think we'd have gotten that before we started."

Township Manager Nancy (drily): "You'd think, yes."

I explained that we'd had no idea, and that Carrie had had no idea. Nancy was somewhat laconic, on the whole, but very helpful. At first, she said they needed to actually see the certified plans and make the copies themselves. I explained that I have said plans-- the signed copy with the seal from the engineer and inspector-- but I live in Philadelphia. I asked if she was going to be there on Saturday, as I'll be out there for a wedding, and she considered a moment, then told me to get copies made of the signed plans, throw in a copy of the permit application and a check, and slide it in the mail slot at the side of the Township Hall. Yay, small towns.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go crawl under my bed.

Oh, no no no-- I was under the impression we HAD the permit-- that Carrie from PARF had taken care of it, as it's not my land. She said she'd had to go to Manheim Township. So I wasn't worried about it. Turns out that no, she didn't know. So if you wanna chastise HER, baby, have at!

And yes, by G-d, that deck will be done by Fling. So help me. It will.
