1. It's a small apartment. I haven't gone anywhere. I just had it.

SO WHERE THE HELL IS MY PATTERN PAPER???

2. Just this second: diy TV tells me the average American deck costs $11,000. They're talking about, I'd imagine, a 10' x 15' deck. Mine will be 20' by 40'. Sweet Christ.

3. I'm a mouse? A mouse?! Oh, come on. I have a daemon my cat could take in a fight? Hell, my MOM could take that in a fight!

Sigh.

One corset drafted, but obviously not transferred. Two to cut. Screw it. I'm going to bed. I'll get up at a decent hour for once and have everything ready for the magnificent [livejournal.com profile] surlywench when she does her drive-by tomorrow night. Darling, I'd be lost without you.

Well.. are they talking raised decks with planking? Cause I think that you can cut costs by keeping it low.

My new deck cost $3k. Then again, it was materials only because my brother-in-law is a contractor and I paid him in home-cooked food (little sister's idea of cooking is dialing the phone to make dinner reservations). Anyway, my actual point is that with any home improvement project (even if it's not on a house per se), about 60% of your actual cost is labor, not materials. If you have any friends who understand hammers, saws, wood screws, etc. then now's the time to bribe them. Good luck! :)

Bless his soul forever, my friend Craig is building it for me. When he spec'd out the lumber costs a few months ago, he got a figure of around $5k, but he wanted to warn me it would probably go higher, as Manheim Township wants a lot of concrete for the footers, and heavier lumber than usual, etc., etc. Whimper. But though he's said he doesn't want money for it, I believe he'll be getting a very snazzy, very expensive doublet at some point.

1. i literally fell over laughing at the post about how you'd organized your pattern paper away.

2. yeah, but I'm thinking the 'average american deck' and yours are going for a smidge different design functionality

3. I"M A MOUSE TOO. We're strong in numbers. FEAR US!

See you monday, fluffy-pants!!

...mouse? I think my daemon might try to eat yours. I'll stay way over here, just in case.
