Credit cards.

So I bought QuickBooks pretty much because Matt raved about 'em, and watching his team in action with it at NELA, I was impressed. Yay integrated services! Woot to taking a CC payment and printing out a receipt all at the same time! So I called them to ask about getting an account, and guess what? Though the software I bought is QuickBooks for Mac 2007, their merchant services don't actually support Macs.

So now what? CardService International? Merchant Warehouse? Anyone have any ideas? I need to be able to take cards at a show wirelessly. I especially need it from August through October, but I'm not sure how much I'll use it from, say, March through most of June, for example. I'm still feeling out my show schedule.

So stressed. SO stressed.

Wonders to self how Fifth Third Processing Solutions (ummm...where I work in the Data Center) handles small business customers...I think they go over the MPSNet network...hmmmmm. Not even sure who you'd have to talk to. Bleh. Researching...brb

Sometimes it pays to know the right people...

Or at least know that one of the other guys on 3rd used to work in Merchant Services. ;)

Call this number - 1-877-744-5300
That's the number for merchant services with FTPS. They can let you know what your options would be, and then you could determine whether FTPS fits your needs or not.

It's a start. :)
(And if you decide to go with it - let me know so I can tell you who to tell them sent you) ;)

(BTW, FTPS is essentially the Jeannie network, if you have any Jeannie ATMs around you - I know we have a few in Philly - we run comm for First Penn Bank, Clearview Federal Credit Union (which has an ATM at the airport)and Hyperion Bank, among others)

Will they deal with Wachovia? Cos that's where my money goes.

When I have any.

Not sure how it works (not the department I'm in). Sorry I don't know more.

I may be clueless in this regard

However, just a thought -- several of the vendors at Maryland Sheep and Wool had Teh Intarwebs hookup, and simply had PayPal stations set up for checkout. That way you can take credit cards, etc. However, intarwebs may not be available where you will be. But it seems to me that if you can get a cc merchant connection, you could get teh intarwebs?

That's bloody brilliant - so they had the client log on and PayPal the funds over to them on-site?

Yeah, I'd considered that. The problem is when I go somewhere that doesn't have service, like Fairie Fest next week. For PARF, though, it'd be great. If they'd let me have a computer there for people to actually see.

I use Paynet systems. luckily they have a service that allows them to do cc processing via the internet.

So when I do parties, I bring my laptop to homes with wireless and just plug the info in.

it's SUPER CHEAP.

for more info, email "Dick Chandler"
