Why am I not in the least surprised to find I was born on a Wednesday? I swear to G-d, if I ever have kids, I shall endeavour to have them at best on a Sunday-- Jewish or not!-- or at the very least on a Tuesday or a Friday.
Wednesday children should just get gift certificates for psychotherapy as shower presents. Or friends and relations should bow to the inevitable and just buy them lots of black and burgundy and claret baby kits.
Or just plan at some point in their lives they're going to date people like me and make our lives hellish. Gah!
Having said all of that, my Thursday-born niece was a treasure today. As long as she doesn't grow up learning manners like her obnoxious cousins-- which my sister will NEVER allow-- she'll be a star. Still a little Churchillian, but with more of a goosey neck. I give her another month before she really starts to look human. At least she's smiling now, and even without teeth that kid can light up a room. She must get it from me.
I told her today, as I sang wenchwalk songs to her, "I'm going to be the first one to put a sword in your hand. I promise you that."
Fairly safe bet in my family, at least.
Newest research kick tonight: archery lessons. Mmmmm. How yummy!
