...that someone out there might have an antique or historically accurate reproduction corset they'd be willing to lend or sell to me? Anything between, say, 16th century and 1915? Or might someone know where I can get one? I've got a few I'm watching on eBay, but it occurs to me that it'd be an excellent idea for me to start amassing my own collection.

And yes, I know, I actually CAN make them, but I'd love to have something to take with me to Ohio, as well as authentic pieces for study. I think I'm also going to start collecting clothing wherever possible. Anyone have any good links to recommend?

I'd ask [livejournal.com profile] stacymckenna. I'll send her over here. She might know.

Most of the corsetry I've done has been a matter of "like this, don't like that, let's make an amalgamation of something with components I like" as opposed to reproductions.

For vintage stuff, I usually talk to [livejournal.com profile] james_madison. She's all about the historical accuracy and finding accurate stuff.

Email Heather at Very Merry Seamstress (info at verymerryseamstress dot com). I don't know if she has any corsets specifically, but I DO know that she was trying to sell off her antique garment collection a few months back. Just let her know that you're a friend of mine. :)

I'd be willing to loan you the one I've got. I think it's 1860 or so.
If you'd look it over while it's in your posession and maybe see what information you can find about it I'd be much obliged! E-mail me. tempest dot gypsy AT gmail dot com.

Remind me next time you're at my house to show you the 2 capes I have that are over 100 years old.

They may just take your breath away.
