I think Bitchcat (aka Tekiah, or The Whirling Black Tornado of Death) and I have plateau'd at an understanding. It's not a complex theory, which is good, considering her little walnut brain. It's basically this: good, bad-- I'm the one with the treats.

She will now allow me to walk up to her and scritch her head, neck and shoulders without her whining and bitching and immediately running away. Now, we get a minute or two of tentative acceptance, followed by whining, bitching and running away. It's not much, but it's something.

Kyle, your Keh-Ten Fu is strong.

Just thought you might like to know: Danielle's cats growl and grumble when you pet them, but don't wander off. Apparently, this is their version of purring. They're pound kitties; while the stalking off will probably wear off, I thought I'd mention the possibility that the bitching might not.

Then again, maybe Danielle just has weird cats ^_^
