One down, one to go.
Nov. 18th, 2006 01:27 amI have won the Never-Official "Weirdest Experience in the Artists' Room" prize for Philcon.
How many other people do you know can walk into an exhibit and, completely at random, suddenly come face to face with a very life-like doll version of a former lover?
Yeah. Go me.
Anyway, for never having EVER been on a panel before in my life-- hell, for never having SEEN a con discussion panel before!-- I think I did very well. The moderator rocked. My fellow guests were quite cool. I have never in my life seen THAT MUCH GEEK in one room before, ever. Not to say I'm not, of course. But hey, I dress well. And I do NOT wear homemade buttons referencing any show with the word "Star" in the title. Take that with a grain of salt, of course: I WAS sitting there intellectually discussing Buffy, Firefly, Wonder Woman, and Serenity, after all. Angel, not so much.
After the panel, I wandered a bit. I HAD been worrying about not meeting anyone I knew there: a worry dispelled the very minute I got to the registration table, when I ran into
elionwyr,
shadesong, and
crystalsage, who all kindly allowed me to accompany them to the OTHER registration area, way up on the 12th floor. I got my ribbon and assorted stuff, then had to go back downstairs for my badge, but I made it to my assigned room with about ten minutes to spare. After the highly enjoyable panel discussion, I ran into
rpk, whom I have not seen in nearly twenty years. And about the last time I saw him was when I met Lawrence Schoen, who was a professor at New College, and whom I ran into outside the Artists' room while talking to Flipper. Of course, talking to Flipper soon means talking to
jenny_fur and
deviathan. Somewhere in there,
cyberthorn and
autumnyte ran through in desperate chase of the former's towed car. And not long after that, I wound up getting most delectable hugs from the fabulous
hughcasey, whose fault it is I was there in the first place. >SMOOCH!< Thanks, honey!
So a good time was had by almost all; now I'm home, I'm sleepy, and it's time for bed.
And I STILL haven't decided what I'm wearing tomorrow.
