Stage 19

Tour ecstacy!

Floyd Landis put the hammer down yet again, with a great time trial. He didn't win the stage-- that honour went to a jubilant, jump-up-and-down-on-the-podium Serhiy Gonchar-- but more importantly, he's back in yellow. While some are saying hos one-minute lead over former-teammate Oscar Pereiro is too small, it's generally considered extremely bad form to challenge on the last day's triumphant entry into Paris. Not only that, but Oscar and Floyd are actually quite good friends. So unless something truly astonishing happens tomorrow, Floyd Landis has a very good day in front of him tomorrow.

And in other news, I finished another pattern last night. Today, [livejournal.com profile] foxglove_8778 and I did some cutting and sewing. Cupcake's corset is cut (try saying THAT with a mouth full of peanut butter) except for her patterned stomacher. Her lining and interlining are together. Margaret's corset is cut. Both of them have loops on, if not sewn. Lisa, I think your pattern is done as well. If not, I'll do it tomorrow, when [livejournal.com profile] mirroreyes arrives to help.

Oh, and a general question. Go here:

Consider these photos.

Consider this question: if I were to choose one, just one, for an ad, which one should it be? And what about it speaks to you?

I think my favorite is the closeup that shows all the spiffy details on the sleeve & corset. In second place is #15 (3/4 shot looking to the left showing train) although you may want to do some slight Photoshop tweaking to bring down some of the contrast between the dress & the trees in the background.

I like the closeup because, to my mind, custom work is all about detail and that's an excellent shot. #15 is also good, imo, because it's sort of a "this could be you" shot (if that makes any sense...). Both images have good potential for an ad - I guess a lot depends on how much and what type of wordage you're planning on including with it.

Hope that helps!

LOL...I saw the image amongst various RPG motivational posters (the core site is here although traffic tends to send one to a mirror site.)

My compliments on your icon taste, as well!

I love the expression on her face, the pose is cute, and you can see some of the corsety detail goodness. :)

this one or the close-up mentioned above, and for the same reasons. It'll depend on how much text you'll be using and on how big the finished ad will be.

alternately, I think the shot of the elephants head would be good too....
I would definitly check out the site on the ad, since how is corsetry related to an elephant?? But also it would give me the idea that you can think big and "outside the box"....but that's prolly why I'm not an ad exec!

I like them all! But showing the detailed close up is a must... and then one of the full length shots so people can get an idea of just how amazing it is put together.

that gown and corset are AMAZING. I especially love the one in which she is leaning a hand against the tree - great detail on the back of the dress and the sleeves.

these are beautiful Nikki!

Darling Nikki... this thing is gorgeous!

I like the one of her back mentioned above - must show detail! There's also a sister picture with her head facing the other direction... Either of those two show that you are great with detail work, yet give the feel for the whole.

:)

Keep up the excellent work!

Dis one. I love the over the shoulder look, very elegant and fey. Plus it shows off your lacings and I love the hanging sleeve.

Second row down, third from the left. Simply perfect, is all. I love the contrast, the movement and dynamicism of line, the brilliant colours. I love the little curls, as though there is a tiny wind, or a little movement of her arm, and I love the shapes. It's very nicely composed, and I also love how very comfortable she looks, and how happy she seems to be there, enthralled with not herself but pleased enough with herself to take delight in things outside herself, too, like the little green things.

ook. I'm getting all art-historian style full of it. Mostly, I really like the composition and the way it shows off your mpiece without being too full of yourself. It's not about JUST the corset, which is nice.

My vote goes to the one leaning against the tree - looking away from the camera. I think it shows the best detail and the quality. The lighting is nice, too.

I chose that one over the one where she's leaning against the tree looking at the camera because I think her face (although endearing to those who love her) draws attention away from the dress.
