Short version? This was to have been the year we finally got to see what Jan Ullrich was made of, and who'd win in a fight between him and Ivan Basso. This was to be their year, out of the shadow of Lance Armstrong. Now, without them and Francesco Mancebo...well...I'm going to look at it this way. It's time, a little earlier, for the next stars to step up to the plate.
And there is no presumption of innocence in these cases. It is ENTIRELY possible that these men are innocent of the blood doping charges. The damage to their reputations, however, is already done.
