Well. At last I know.
Jun. 5th, 2006 01:22 pmYou know, before I joined the Guild, I knew there WERE "he said/she said" people out there, but I just didn't KNOW any of them. Once I moved out of Largo and BARF-- or maybe it's just once I hit a certain age-- I just didn't have the high-school-mentality people around me.
Now, of course, I see it all the time. Once in a while, it even takes a swipe at me. Thanks, but no.
I got a message this morning that, it seems, the cause of the furious phone call and the nasty IM was that this person heard from someone who heard from someone else that someone who bought a corset of mine years ago had said it didn't hold up. Understand that the person who contacted me no longer speaks to the person who bought the corset, and refuses to tell me who the intermediary was. I'm not really worried, as the corset was made out of an unsuitable material, and we knew it wasn't holding up, and we were both upset, but we're still friends. If she wants me to fix it, I will. In other words, everything's fine, and it's no one else's business. The irate person also took a stab at me in my capacity as Guild Rep for PA, saying it was that role that kept me from dealing with the situation. I think. Her logic was...well, rather flawed.
Is there any point in saying no, I didn't respond to her cos I don't answer nasty voicemails, and it's difficult to respond to an IM when the person who sends it signs off immediately afterwards? Is there any point in pointing out that my Guild position has NOTHING to do with my business? Is there even the slightest point in explaining to her it's absolutely none of her business in any way, shape, or form? I'm guessing it'd fall on willfully deaf ears.
Sigh.
Lars told me once that I, like several Wenches he knew, would be ideal for Grande Madame, because I didn't want the post. I laughed then, but boy, was he right. What is it about some women?

Date: 2006-06-05 09:33 pm (UTC)See, one of the things I love about my Local is that we're so LOW-drama. This kind of thing just doesn't happen to us.
Just to me, it seems.

Date: 2006-06-05 10:13 pm (UTC)I'm kind of annoyed, though. She wasn't IN the Guild, so she shouldn't have said anything about us being back-biting. That was just one person with whom she was having a hopefully-since-mended quarrel. Oh, well. Water under the bridge now, and YOU'RE OURS NOW! MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Oh, and by the way: $285. Your stomacher should be ready soon. You want it at Fling, or before?

Date: 2006-06-05 10:44 pm (UTC)She likes the drama, but's too chicken to do it in person. Nice.
Well, she can kiss my little corn-fed ass.

I think I will adopt the following stance from now on... I work with 14 yr old girls, if you can out drama them at age 20, YOU need to get a life.
:)
OK, rant done. I love you and your corsets... ;)
I'll wear as many as I can afford :) and we will just look so absolutely amazing that drama queen will just have to die of envy.
Gee I am vicious tonight.....

Date: 2006-06-06 04:19 pm (UTC)oh and - if the work was so faulty - why then was a second corset PURCHASED!??! not as a replacement, but as an additional garment!
sometimes you have to just shake your head at people and move along.
