Oh, Sweet Canis, what have I done?
Nov. 21st, 2005 11:10 amI took a major step this morning. One that has me quaking in my stylish yet inexpensive boots.
I left Clue out today.
No, not as in running around my complex, playing in traffic, thumbing for rides on 84th. (If she had thumbs.) I left her out of her crate: free rein in the apartment, chasing cats, sleeping on the bed, and eating my belongings all day.
To say I'm terrified of what I'll find when I get home tonight is a massive understatement. But I've left her out before. I left her out for three hours on Friday, and six hours Saturday night. So really, this is nothing completly new, I've just never left her out ALL DAY. Will she eat the trash? Will she eat my scissors? Will she eat my patterns? Will she eat my cats?
Collies have a tendency to be chewers for a long, long time. Kayli chewed until she was about three, and then sporadically after that when she was bored or annoyed with me. And who can forget the infamous "Trash Angel" incident? But it bothered me every day to think of Clue in her crate from 8.15am to 6.30pm. She's two and a half now, so I'm hoping the damage will be manageable.
G-d help me.
G-d help my cats.
