A little late to the party.

So I finally got around to the link that
morriganswitch posted: Stephen Colbert roasting the President at the White House Correspondents Dinner. Wow. And not just roasting the President. He took a swipe at everyone in the room. Even, very obliquely, the First Lady. Or, rather, the irony of a push for literacy done by a woman whose husband is an avowed idiot.
I wonder what it was actually like in the room. I saw the President's face turning a little red around the edges as he kept a smile forcibly pasted on his face. I wonder who tried not to laugh, wondering if it meant their next juicy interview suddenly cancelling on them. I wonder if Stephen Colbert has a solid offshore retirement account. I wonder if I have Comedy Central?
Was it last year, or the year before? Everyone was saying the Dinner had become a roomful of fawning sycophants, no one saying anything remotely controversial, no one wanting to draw undue negative attention to themselves. Hm. Not so much this year, I suppose.
