I'm seriously rethinking my UK trip.

I just got my wrist slapped for taking another day off yesterday. If I take the two weeks I planned, I'll have very little time left for the rest of the year. And with booth fees for PARF.... Oh, and the time off I'll need for the show itself....

Maybe I should just take one week? Skip Scotland? I don't know.

Sigh.

Maybe you should work somewhere they won't be offended when you use sick or vacation time.

No, it's not that. I've just taken five or so days off already and it's only March. THAT'S why I got chastised.

I just haven't been feeling 100% lately. Though a new job wouldn't suck.

I am with you on the new job idea, although it's only because I'm getting so worn down on THIS one. I love my job and I love my coworkers. I just don't like the hours that much.

As for England and Scotland...honestly, if it were me I would take them as 2 separate trips. Scotland in and of itself is worthy of it's own time to digest. England as well, but Scotland especially.
You can ruminate on what you saw in England without having to change gears and integrate Scotland as well.
But that's just my thought.
And I would really, really wanna go on either one with you. :( I need to happen across a large, unclaimed bag of cash.

1. Are you going to stay at this job forever?
2. Do you really care what they think?

Most employers can be total asshats when it comes to you using the time you earned. I would take the time because if they know that they can bully you into not taking it they will continue to do so. At least that has been my experience from my past two jobs.

Yeah, you might want to just do England separately -- one thing I do to maximize my trip time but minimize my days off is to wrap vacations around a weekend -- say, take off Thurs - Monday -- you're only taking 3 vacation days, but doing a 5 day trip.

I did a quick hunt on expedia.com (hotel and airfare combo) for mid-April and a lot of packages came up for decent hotels -- all under 1,000 for hotel and airfare -- a bunch of them were under 900.00. I know it's not the ideal vacation you wanted, but it would give you some time in London and the surrounding area, get you out of Dodge for a bit and you'd still have days to take when season rolls around...
