This could be interesting.
Sep. 19th, 2005 04:14 pmI've just been contacted by a writer who's very interested in me and my corsets. She's the friend of one of the guys in marketing here; he scanned in the cover of Photographer's Forum with my corset on it, and we got to talking, and he said, "I have this friend...." Apparently, she's written for Renaissance Magazine, and this is right up her alley.
Well, well.
Well, well.

BTW: we can do the lacing that night, too? I'm going with a group to MDRF on the 1st of October, so I finally really need it! :)
*hugs* Sorry I missed your call - will call you tonight!

Date: 2005-09-21 06:36 pm (UTC)Okay... bear with me here....
Date: 2005-09-21 07:22 pm (UTC)We'll *start* with the space and organization you need to keep your business moving... that's been your point since the beginning:
I have corsets I owe to people. (...) I'm having trouble working on them. Not just because of time-- I'm swamped, yes-- but because my space is so cluttered I can't work.
... and it sounds like with the increase in orders (Awesome! Yay! Hurrah! Cool! Congrats! Exciting!) and the exposure you're getting with the magazine cover, well, this is where you really NEED to get organized.
This is what you want to do with your life, yes? This is what will generate deadlines that will stress you out. This is what will bring you extra money that will keep you from being so stressed. :)
Think how much happier you'd be with a good system for your work - if you're like me, a little clutter is actually kinda comfy and ok in the living areas, but when it's time to accomplish something, that's a whole different ballgame.
You can't waste an hour (or a week) looking for notes on whether someone wanted a three-lacing or a five-lacing, silly girl!
Find your business notes and client info. Find your materials, your dyes, your sketches, all that extra STUFF, from whatever corner it's hiding. Your workroom needs love. It wants respect, and a shop sign, even, that says "Mayfaire Moon" on it, so that when you go in there, it's like going to work, not like being at home.
If you get One Sacred Area which you know you MUST keep organized, that's MUCH easier than trying to keep your whole house that way! (At least, that's the theory I use at MY house... hehe!)
But of course if you just want me to sift through piles of old mail, I can do that, too, I guess.... but remember that I'm a *commercial* space planner: I do better with work areas and functions... this business stuff is really what I'm better at! ;)

Date: 2005-09-21 08:27 pm (UTC)Incidentally, I seem to have gotten a lot of hits off Google Images searches. I didn't even think of people looking for me that way. Woot!
