I've always thought that a good motto in life is: "When forced to choose between two evils, pick the one you haven't tried yet."

Why, then, do I feel compelled to dive headfirst into something I know is oh, so very wrong for me? Why do I so badly want something that's just, well, so bad?

Sigh. If I weren't me, I'd thwack me upside the head. As I have the beginnings of a stunning headache, I suppose it's good I am me. Except for the headache.

perhaps you've fallen into the comfortable discomfort zone. It isn't good, but it's at least familiar, and therefore you feel you might be able to deal with it somewhat better?
I could go on with lots of zen bullshit, too, but maybe you just want to do it because it feels good, even if you think it's not the right thing in the long run.
