Every time someone talks about the righteousness of prosecuting accused rapists, I flash to the two cases of sexual assault that I've been through (one actual, one attempted) and survived on my own. I didn't want to ruin the lives of the people who inflicted themselves on me. Because honestly I don't think either of them would do (or have done) this again after I was able to explain to them why I felt violated. In that sense, I completely understand where the victim is coming from.
But that is also why I find these posts incredibly traumatic and triggering. Are you going to go wage justice on behalf of me, too?
