I can't easily get photos any more. In order to get anything dubbed a "multimedia message," I have to go to a website and enter a passphrase and ID, which changes for each message, is a random garble of numbers and letters, and can't be copied and pasted cos the iPhone famously has no copy and paste function.

So if there's something you need to send me, please still do-- but send it to my email address. I can open it that way with no problems.

C'est bon?

I agree on this. WTF? It should be easy enough. Probably some of Steve's boneheadedness.

OTOH, Amazon just released a Kindle reader for the iPhone. I already downloaded it and grabbed a sample of Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean's The Graveyard Book as a test. Small pages, but nice. And usable anywhere you have a data connection, just like the "real" Kindle.

Oh, and AT&T could also make it better by making it a single link you click and you get the picture. No entering of nothing. It's trivially easy to do in a URL. So it's not just Apple....

Yup! My sister and Chelsea have iphones and can't get pix! Seems so DUMB to me that getting pix has to be complicated considering all the cool things you can do with a single touch on iphone!!

My latest gleeful discovery on my iPhone is that you can use your Flickr account's mobile email feature to upload pics from the iPhone to your Flickr account. (log into your flickr account, then go here: http://www.flickr.com/account/uploadbyemail/)

There is supposed to be a new picture messaging app coming out for it. I'll track down the reference for you.

There is one, but you have to unlock the phone to get it: it's called Swirly MMS (http://www.swirlyspace.com/).

I am as annoyed as can be by the fact that I can't get picture messages, too. I haven't decided if it's worth (possibly) voiding an applecare plan to be able to get them.

These days, cell phones can send to an email just as easily as a phone number. (My old phone that's pushing 4-5 years old could.)
So if someone asks me if I got their message, I look it up, and say "What message?" "Oh, it was a picture!" "OK, the iphone has MMS FAIL, send it to my email" If they do, problem solved. If they don't, it probably wasn't worth my time anyway. :)

Lack of Copy/Paste is annoying, especially when URLs in emails mysteriously truncate. The text of the URL is there, but the link dies halfway through. But I'm not sure if this is phone-Fail or Yahoo-groups-Fail.

As for the "The Camera Sucks!" people - meh, I bought a phone/email/surfing toy, not a camera. :)
