Better than nothing!
Oct. 13th, 2008 07:30 pmI got the worst of the junk here cleaned up, though not all. That's good. I cleaned off the kitchen counter, and the sink, and scrubbed both. I opened up my G4-- the desktop, the Sawtooth-- and vacuumed it out. It was...there were things growing in there like dust mastabas.
Most excitingly, and geekishly, I called One World Computing and bought myself some upgrades:

In plain English, this means I may be ending the era of insane fury at the slowness of my ancient desktop-- for a while, at least-- and might even be able to get back into Second Life on the laptop. I will also be able to USE my laptop discretely, as the last item is a new-and-improved battery. As of now, I have to be able to plug the little beast in wherever I am, which really defeats the purpose.
Although these are things I will very much enjoy, I keep having to remind myself that my computers are also my tools, and that these are not frivolous purchases. I just feel guilty whenever I spend any money, now, no matter what. Unless it's bills, which are torturous. From that type of transaction I derive almost no pleasure whatsoever, save perhaps that of having one less thing to worry about.
