Some days remind me why I do this job. This was one of them.

Salon Con was excellent. The lovely [livejournal.com profile] shadesong and [livejournal.com profile] fiannaharpar started my day off with a pair of sales. And should you see [livejournal.com profile] shadesong anywhere about, be sure to say, "Look at that ASS!" Because oh yes, it looked fiiine.

Made friends with a few vendors-- [livejournal.com profile] snugglyevil and snagged a table in the Cool Kids' room, right between Chris, Anne, and Hyena of Griffons Claw Armoury on our left, and Dave Ghoul of Grendel's Den on our right. We had a BLAST. It was great.

[livejournal.com profile] snugglyevil: You posting to LJ?

Me: Yeah.

[livejournal.com profile] snugglyevil: I say, "Woohoo! Good con!" My feet say, "Fuck you! Go to BED!"

Anyway. I met some fabulous people, took orders and sold corsets. I was honestly thinking this event would be a wash. Chris asked me why, then, I'd come, I explained that it was my first Steampunk event, and as the main element of Steampunk is Victoriana, well, what goes well with the period? Even if I don't expect to do well, I have to expand my horizons and see what's out there. I'm glad this proved a worthy risk.

And lastly, I got to see Abney Park. Um. Wow. What fun are they! Their show was almost an hour late-- as I dragged, pushed, and otherwise wrestled the new dress form, whom [livejournal.com profile] snugglyevil has christened "Madame Trousseau," up to our room, I passed them in the hall, sitting disconsolately on a bench. They asked if the burlesque show was over yet. "Oh, no," I grimly replied. They sighed. Yet despite this, and despite their equipment going out over and over again during their set, and despite the drunk twits howling and flailing behind us on the dance floor (one of whom apparently called me "ma'am," the little bitch)-- despite all that, they did a kick-ass, engaging, thoroughly enjoyable set. Though their music and act is a bit on the delightfully pretentious, theatric side, they themselves come across as extraordinarily down-to-earth and fun. I bought three CDs.

I'm exhausted, and for some reason, I really, really hurt. We were up at 8, set up by 9.30, customers started coming in about 11, and we didn't break down til twelve hours later. Then the Abney park show for an hour or so. Then storytelling with Dave Ghoul whilst he searched frantically for more rum up and down the halls of the Holiday Inn. I had a wonderful time, but I just hurt.

Whee!

I may sleep for a week. Except that now I have jack-all for stock again.

You can't sleep for a week...
You have orders due ;)
(thats the booth manager in me who wants to not have to deal with cranky patrons) ... and you still have all the stock sitting at grounds.... that can get us through a week or three... esp at the rate we are going.
:P

I have some lovely embrodery to do though. And I got 50 essays graded yesterday up at grounds...

I need hugs.

Actually, I say that every time I see her... I just try to use my INNER voice! ;-P

I'm glad it was a great event for you, and I'm sorry that I couldn't be there. And, hell, you guys, Dave, and Chris and Christine all in the same spot! I know where *I* would been hanging almost all day! And I had to miss it! Aaaaaaargh! :-(

Ah, well... maybe next year.

Ahh, no Christine any more. Alas, she left him about a month ago. You should have sen Dave's face when Chris told him, after he'd just said, "So! How's the wife?" Yes. THAT awkward.

Don 't worry, we took special care of him. All of us. In our own special ways. MUHAHAHAHAHAAHAA!

Yeah. He was somewhat sanguine about it. Outwardly. He said he had a great Dragon*Con, though, by himself. I gather things had been tense.

We all pointed out he was dressed as a total Browncoat. He even LOOKS like Nathan Fillion. He swears it was involuntary. We took pictures, and he had to admit it was true. Oh, and Dave made everyone happy with his Pyrat Rum. We SO had the Cool Corner. I'm so very much looking forward to Wicked, now.

And the sad part is that he was probibly up and working at that time.

I want to go next year...even if I don't have the correct stuff to wear.

I'm a little confused how we have "jack-all" for stock if you only sold two corsets outright?

I don't have the sizes I need. Some of the ones I gave you to do were the mediums we're low on. I'll finish more this week.

How did the day end up?

Oh, he was! He's ALWAYS awake, it seems. And yes, you MUST come out next year, "proper" clothes or not! People were there in any and everything. It was great!

And two of the ones I sold were mediums; the other was one of the only larges.

we took one payment on an existing order for $160. Allie took $20 to repay her out of pocket expenses for food for us on Saturday, and I think we spent a little less than $20 for food today. so, $120 or a little more should be what's left.

I have the money and the stock with me.
I'm beat to hell, and going to bed.

Wait-- whose payment? And did she pay it off?

Allie took it, you'll have to ask her.

The corset has brought me great joy already and brought my husband great joy last night ;-)

I've also added you and [livejournal.com profile] snugglyevil because the two of you are people to Get to Know Better, most definitely.
