Almost done. Probably.
Jun. 22nd, 2008 12:52 amAs you may or may not know, my obsessions tend to burn like chemical fires, then settle down to a strong but quiet glow. In other words, I'll be back to posting about whom- and what-ever soon enough.
But tonight I'm musing about writing and drama and art and television and sex. And the confluence of all five.
There are stages in the written/spoken word. Stages in perception. Context is absolutely everything. I've had men say the filthiest things on the planet to me and turn me off as if they'd shot me in the head. I've had men say completely innocent things to me and the words still burn inside me like a coal seam in Centralia. It's the context, the intent, the history, the look in the eyes. The chemistry.
Last night, while browsing video clips, I came across this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqzKYvmQY_0&feature=related
It's complete fangirl, but there's one clip in there that caught my eye. Okay, yes, more than one, of course, but this one in particular. See 2'33". It's just a look, just a small, suggestive movement. Brain sex.
I wondered where it came from. Soon enough, I came across the answer:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoUdPin-dhU
Wait-- what? Was that line what I think it was? Oh, Christ. Oh, Christ! It's a little...over the top to see something like that said between two other people, but to imagine something like that being said to me, quietly, intently, privately, puts my heart up under my throat and I feel my pulse in all manner of places.
But then we get to stage three. I wanted to get context. So I looked up the prodution, Secret Smile, and read this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secret_Smile
I'm fascinated. The exact same clip has gone from "Oooh, G-d," to "Oh, G-d!" to "Oh, G-D!" I love it. I love the play of words against visual clues. I have no desire to see the rest of the production, as it's probably a bit too dark, and would most likely just make me feel I needed a shower-- which is its point, in large part. I've been manipulated. I KNOW I've been manipulated, and I tip my hat thereto.
All hail the creative process.
