I have a problem.
Nov. 25th, 2007 12:59 amI'm watching a NatGeo documentary about pigs: how smart they are, how good they are at problem solving, how like humans they are, how they react to stress, how their emotions work.... Did you know that a wild hog's skull is flat, for maximum rooting efficiency, but a farm pig's skull is dished? But if a farm pig escapes and goes feral, the shape of its skull will actually change? And if you capture a wild or feral pig young enough, its skull will grow more dished? And a pig can learn things in a few minutes it might take a dog a year to learn? Or that if a piglet is weaned too early, it will be fearful and lack some cognitive and reasoning skills its entire life? They're amazing critters.
But I really like bacon.
I'm not being funny. I swore to a calf's face I'd never eat veal again-- that was almost 20 years ago, and I haven't knowing touched the stuff since.
Oh, dear.
And in other news, ow. Just...just fucking ow.
