Sadly, this afternoon's shoot has been cancelled: [livejournal.com profile] jenny_fur was walloped by the Galloping Crud, so we have to reschedule. The fabulous [livejournal.com profile] kylecassidy had a makeup artist and everything. Foul germs! Begone! And get a lot of sleep, Jen. It looks like everyone's sick: my mom, Dad, [livejournal.com profile] tempest_gypsy...anyone else?

So I'm going to use the extra time to attack the massive post-faire cleaning job for which my apartment is crying. Sadly, I'd like to watch TV while doing so, but am prevented in a most perfidious manner: the chaos here has swallowed my TV remote. Talk about a bitter irony.

I may take another nap. I took one, and it turned out badly: I awoke with a dream voice in my head, crying, "I want my mooommy!" Very nearly started me crying. Ugh. Actually, Mom and I spent yesterday at the Philadelphia Miniatures show, featuring artists and vendors from all over the world, and out of the thousands of things I saw, and hundreds of artists, there's one whose work stopped me dead in my tracks. I'm a very, very hard sell as far as miniature dolls go. Though their faces may be wonderful, if their arms don't bend right, or the hands are too big, or the clothing doesn't drape right, I'm not satisfied. I always expect perfection, which is obnoxious of me, especially since I couldn't sculpt a miniature human to save my life.

At any rate, when I came across this woman, who'd come all the way from Spain, I just stood and stared. I couldn't believe it. Her proportions, her detail work, and the sheer grace of her work is astonishing. She does a doll of Rachel Brice that I recognised in an instant-- the face, as well as the costume, is that good. Her ballerinas look like they're straight out of some miniaturised Kirov. Her period dolls are utter marvels.

Go tool around a few minutes. You won't be sorry.

They're really lovely. The ballerinas are especially nice.
