And apparently, I'll say it like this:

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: Philadelphia

Your accent is as Philadelphian as a cheesesteak! If you're not from Philadelphia, then you're from someplace near there like south Jersey, Baltimore, or Wilmington. if you've ever journeyed to some far off place where people don't know that Philly has an accent, someone may have thought you talked a little weird even though they didn't have a clue what accent it was they heard.

The Midland

The Northeast

The South

Boston

The Inland North

The West

North Central

What American accent do you have?

I normally think memes are kind of silly, but this one was very well done, and-- duh!-- accurate! I don't have as heavy a Philly accent as some (I have a lot of New York in there from my parents, though we're all very mild, and I was raised on PBS), but I know I'm recognisable to folks when I travel.

I taught Todd how to say "water ice" properly, too.

A fun quiz! Apparently I'm as as Philadelphian as a cheesesteak! (Which reminds me, did I ever tell you about the huge neon sign in at a bar in CVG airport that says, "Kentucky's Best Philadelphia Cheesesteaks"!)

As for the test, I got the exact same scores as you, and I'm from lower Manhattan, my parents are from the "Midland" (the Midwest??), I attended high school and college in the South, I lived in Boston for a summer, my sister lives in Philly, and I live in the West! I'm so confused!

Oh, and what the heck is "water ice"?

Somewhere around 4th or 5th grade, my brother backhanded me and gave me this to ponder:

"Water is pronounced 'wau-ter', not 'wood-er'."

Thank you, Brian, this changed my life...

Oh, dear heaven. When next you return to this coast, I shall have to present you with water ice.

You will be appreciative, I'm quite sure!

Gah! I shall strike him back on your behalf! Gah!!

Though, you know, if you ever moved back here, you could take up the pronunciation just to annoy him. Still, having just seen Sedona on TV the other day, I have to say I could see why you wouldn't.

Go fig.

Bah. You always sound lovely to me.

Darling, is there any way you could pick me up a ticket for the JJ show? I'd love to avoid the brutal fees if I can....
