Simon used to say that when he was miserable in love-- missing his S.O.-- he was more creative. Last night, I printed out a half-dozen or so photos of cranes, and sketched a stomacher of a crane flying across the moon. I'd like to paint it on deep blue silk, then paint clouds around the back of the corset for the sky.

Then, once in bed, I started thinking about a series of bird corsets, all with removable feather sprays.

From there, I thought, "What about doing The Firebird? Painted like a Russian box on black silk?"

And from there, "What about a series of fairy tale corsets?"

At last, I've found my "lines." I didn't really want to do other kinds of corsets-- I really like the style I have-- but I've wanted to branch out for a while.

Watch this space.

ETA:

Rapunzel, with a gold braid running in a spiral all around the corset. Mmm.

Fairy...tale...corsets. Way to combine two of my fatal weaknesses!

Sign me up for that.

Heh. What's your poison, then? Sleeping Beauty? Cinderella? East of the Sun, West of the Moon?

Lol... one of my London friends told me about a first class flight he was on that Simon LeBon also happened to be on and he woke up in the middle of the night to Simon doing a stewardness some oral favors. Guess that counts for more creative. heh.

Ooooo...with playing cards all over. Alice with a flamingo? Or does Alice have to be on it at all? What would you want on it?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAA!

Yeah, I've heard Simon's wife is a VERY understanding woman. Or was this before he got married?

Oh he was married then... I'm not sure exactly when this was, but it was relatively recent all things considered.

I don't know, but I just wanted to claim it before someone else did. Alice wouldn't have to be on it since she's on my back and would show. Same with the Caterpiller.

I'd LOVE to do it in the popular sky-blue of her dress. With cards and jam tarts. maybe in photo transfer-- Victorian-decoupage style.

Mm?

*quivers* Um, um, um...Twelve Dancing Princesses!

A playing card themed one would be awesome, too. Or ravens.

Red roses and black ravens would be gorgeous. I'm liking the idea of an East of the Sun, West of the Moon corset with stylized swirling wind. Tattercoats/Donkey Skin would be fantastic - three different colors of silk to represent the three different dresses.

Tam-Lin, too!

The fairy tales are fantastic and infinitely variable so that each one needn't ever be the same, even if the tale being interpreted is the same.

The Mayfaire Moon shape could remain precisely as it is, since it's a fantastic canvas for paint, embellishment, and applique.

So, with that in mind, I think:
1) Fairy Tales
(a) Fables
2) Goddesses
3) Mythical creatures
4) Fae
(a) Elemental
(b) Geographical -- ala the Gnomes, wherein they lived in various locales and looked and behaved differently according to where they lived
5) Shakespearean (Lacing the Bard? My own project currently in progress is a Shakespeare album quilt, and the pattern line I am producing with it is Quilting the Bard. :))
